Delta has revised its baggage policies for international destinations, effective immediately. The new rules vary by destination, class of service and frequent flyer status.
International Travel (except Latin America)
- Elite Economy Baggage exception amended to reduce weight allowance to 50lbs per bag from 70lbs per bag (except to/from Brazil)
- "Plus one" allowance implemented for Elite members. Baggage allowance is dependent on region of travel - example:
- For travel to Asia, South America, Africa and the Middle East, Elites will be allowed 3 bags up to 50 lbs in economy
- For most travel to Europe, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, Elites will be allowed 2 bags up to 50 lbs in economy
- In First/Business Class, Elites will be allowed 3 bags up to 70 lbs (non-elite allowance reduced from 3 to 2 bags)
Latin Travel
- Add 2nd checked bag fee of $30 for travel between the US/CA to/from Central America/Panama
- Add 2nd checked bag fee of $30 for travel between the US/CA to/from all of the Caribbean (including Guyana, French Guiana, and Suriname) - currently it only applies between US/CA to/from Aruba, Bahamas, Bermuda, and the Cayman Islands.
- Eliminate the exception of $27 for online check-in of the 2nd bag for Latin; the 2nd checked bag fee of $30 for MX/CAMR/Panama/Caribbean will apply for both online and airport check-in.
- Specialty items (Antlers, bicycles, scuba tank, surfboards, windsurfing equipment) - reduce from $200 to $150 each (excluding Brazil)
- First/business non-elite passenger allowance - reduce from 3 bags to 2 bags at 70 lbs each; pending approval for travel to/from Canada.
