American Plans to Re-hire 800 Pilots, Cabin Staff

American Airlines plans to re-hire approximately 800 furloughed pilots and flight attendants as it prepares to increase it’s internation service through its new alliance with Iberia and British Airways. American estimates 545 flight attendants and 250 pilots will be brought back in the coming months, some as early as November. Among the new routes American has planned are Chicago-Helsinki and New York-Budapest, both announced in conjunction with the British Airways partnership. American has also announced or applied to fly routes between Dallas and Rio de Janeiro, New York and Rio de Janeiro, New York and Tokyo - Haneda, and Los Angeles and Shanghai. American also plans to increase existing service between Miami and Madrid, and New York and Barcelona.
